Education programs are performance based with a focus on field and clinical experiences that provide teacher candidates with opportunities to develop into professional practitioners. Teacher candidates are expected to display dispositional behaviors that demonstrate a commitment to helping children grow and develop a love for learning.  通过一个文科基金会, teacher candidates acquire a broad based repertoire of knowledge, critical thinking skills and the dispositions they need to help their students to become lifelong learners.

General Requirements for Admission into Education

Teacher candidates entering all education programs must have a 2.CORE课程绩点7分. Students are expected to earn a C or better in the following courses: College Algebra or Theory of Mathematics for Education I and II, 普通心理学, 公共演讲及英语.

Complete details about the educational programs can be found in the Teacher Education Handbook which is given to new students in EDC 201 Foundations of Education. Admission to and retention in the education programs are selective and subject to criteria spelled out in the handbook. Transfer students must meet with the Dean or an advisor to plan for admission to the program during their first semester on campus. All Education majors are required to maintain a 2.累积平均绩点7分毕业.

NOTE: Although student teaching is not a requirement for graduation, 它在所有领域都是强制许可的. Because of the state requirements for licensure, Lake Erie College education students may sometimes complete more than the 120 minimum required credit hours.
